The Fort de Caluire, located in the Lyon region of France, embodies an important part of the country’s military and strategic history. Built in the 19th century as part of the fortification of Lyon, this defensive bastion was intended to protect the city and its surroundings from external threats.
Constructed between 1832 and 1841, the Fort de Caluire was part of the fortification system established by Marshal Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban to strengthen the security of Lyon.
